Jail Tarek Mitri and Laure Sleiman
URL Courte : http://5196.lapetition.be/
Tarek Mitri and Laure Sleiman employed 16 people in the Ministry of Information in December 2007. In June 2009 Joumana Gebara refused to go to work without getting her salary. She denounced the crime on TV, however the Lebanese Republic did not react. Till today Tarek Mitri and Laure Sleiman are on free foot and Joumana Gebara never received her salary (amounting 3.000$). The Lebanese Republic must make Tarek Mitri accountable. Sign the petition and help restore Human Rights in a country which was Pioneer of Human Rights till the mafia politics took over.
Are you against corruption?
Are you pro-justice?
As Head of Foreign Languages Department at the NNA (National News Agency), Joumana Gebara appeared on NTV with Ghada Eid on May 28th, 2009 and politely asked Tarek Mitri to pay the salaries of the employees. The reaction was an insulting assault of Director Laure Sleiman who boldly accused Joumana of lying. On June 12th, 2009 Joumana publicly debated the case with Laure Sleiman on NTV and Laure Sleiman as well as the Minister's Consultant and relative Toufic Yanieh both admitted that Joumana Gebara is competent, qualified and has worked at the NNA. Laure Sleiman promised to pay the salary of Joumana Gebara in a reconciliation meeting. This never occured. Instead things went differently.
Joumana Gebara was punished on several occasions. First of all, she never received her salary, the rest has become personal battles led by different people in order to discredit Joumana.
Further, in the Ministry of Information there is no such thing as VOLUNTEER work. Minister Tarek Mitri tried on several occasions to hide behind his own shadow and claimed that the staff worked as volunteers. This is completely untrue and false: (1) If staff would have been volunteering, why everyone got paid except for Joumana Gebara? (2) Why did Laure Sleiman and Toufic Yanieh claim otherwise in public?
The case Joumana Gebara which was covered by the media is a stricking example on corruption in Lebanon. When faced with de facto cases, some ministers tend to punish the ones asking for ethical behavior of employees.
Minister Tarek Mitri and his director Laure Sleiman paid the other employees, who are completely loyal to the minister and would not stand as witnesses to the crime done to Joumana. Now payments are done wortgh $16,000.00 monthly for an unqualified staff in the English and French section of the National News Agency. All what this staff does is issue ONLY one piece of information pro shift. Is this ok? A whole staff which issues only one or two pieces of information is being paid from the taxes of the Lebanese people: $1,000.00 per month! While the qualified person Joumana Gebara (As asserted by the director Laure Sleiman) has been punished on several occasions.
What is the salary of a Lebanese?
Do Lebanese also get paid $1,000.00 for going to work 4 times a week for few hours and in those hours only one piece of news in written and the rest of time is spent on having fun?
Of course, any rational Lebanese would not accept this status quo!
Can anyone accept this CORRUPTION from Tarek Mitri and his director?
Do you accept such an injustice?
